8 July 2015 (Wednesday) – Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) has hosted an iftar dinner gathering in celebrating the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan. The main objective of this event is to establish and strengthen the social bonds between the employees, top management and community as an effort to spread the spirit of sharing and caring for one another.
All staff regardless of their level of employment, ethnicity, nationality and religious belief were invited to join this event. In addition, the senior management of SMRT Holding Berhad, Creador Sdn. Bhd., Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), representatives from Surau Nurul Hidayah, and the children from Rumah Bakti Nursyaheera were also invited to this memorable event.
The programme started in the afternoon when nine children from Rumah Bakti Nursyaheera accompanied by their caretaker were taken to a departmental store to purchase clothes for the coming Aidilfitri. They were then taken to AMU for the next agenda which was Ramadhan Forum conducted by Mr Syed Azizullah Ghori, a lecturer from Faculty of Pharmacy discussing on the ways to observe the true spirit of Ramadhan.
Later, the event continued with the iftar dinner gathering. Welcoming remarks were delivered by and YBhg. Dato’ Hj. Abd Rashid bin Hj. Mohd Sharif, Deputy President for Student Affairs and Alumni. The programme was concluded by the presentation of hampers to the representative of Surau Nurul Hidayah and the representative for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Nursyaheera, and the presentation of donation to the children of Rumah Bakti Nursyaheera by YBhg Dato’ Dr R. Palan, Executive Director of Asiamet Education Group Berhad, YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr Megat Burhainuddin bin Megat Abdul Rahman, a member of the Board of Governors of Asia Metropolitan University, and YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr N.K.S. Tharmaseelan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Metropolitan University.
