Asia Metropolitan University Celebrates Its’ 13th Convocation Ceremony

Over 700 graduates were present and two honorary doctorates were conferred at this ceremony

Cyberjaya, 10th December 2019 – Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) held its’ 13th Convocation ceremony in Cyberjaya today. The ceremony saw over AMU graduates getting their Masters, Degree and Diploma scrolls in the fields of Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Physiotherapy, Paramedical Science and Business Administration. The ceremony was also an international affair, thanks to the presence of AMU’s MBA graduates and their loved ones from across the region who travelled to Malaysia to be part of a great milestone.

AMU has grown to produce thousands of professionals over the years. AMU is constantly taking efforts to equip future graduates with knowledge and competency to be able to adapt to the rapid changes and development of the industry and to guarantee employability of the graduates in various economic sectors.

AMU’s moto, Empowering Future Leaders truly signifies its aspiration in becoming a premier higher education institution offering vast educational experiences and practical exposure to produce well-trained, qualified and competent leaders.

Kasturi A/P Veeramorgan, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) student from the Faculty of Medicine was conferred with the Chancellor Award at the ceremony. “It has been my life-long dream to be a doctor and I have been waiting for this day since I was a kid. It is exciting but also intense to enter the working world and have people’s lives depending on us, but I am ready to take on the challenge and am sure all my friends do,” she said.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohamad Khan bin Jamal Khan said, “The global industry of private tertiary education today is more volatile and unpredictable. However, we take the responsibility of bringing out the best in each one of our students through an increasingly competitive and complex environment.

Datuk Seri Subramaniam Pillai A/L Sankaran Pillai, an entrepreneur and business leader in Malaysia was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Management. He is currently overseeing the development of 8000 units of affordable home in Klang Valley and Seremban. He is a member of various societies such as the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor India Business Chamber (“KLSICCI”), Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers & Commerce Industry (“MAICCI”) and Malaysian Indian Business Council (“MIBC”) where he lends his knowledge to help develop the Malaysia business landscape.
