About the Centre

Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) promotes excellence amongst postgraduate academic staff and students through responsive teaching, research work and supervision.

The centre coordinates with various faculties of the Asia Metropolitan University for admission, postgraduate examination results’ endorsement and appointment of research supervisors and graduation of postgraduates in a manner where quality control regulations are uniformed, procedures are strictly adhered to and high academic standards are maintained. The centre works closely with the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) to facilitate postgraduate representation and engagement with research processes including animal and human ethics in the University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vikineswaran A Maniam

Assoc Prof Dr. Vikineswaran A Maniam graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours in Marketing from UKM in 1988. The abovementioned, known as Vik, was working in a fast-moving consumer goods environment for about 5 years. In 1992 Vik embarked into the field of hospitality by first acquiring a one-year formal education at Domino Carlton Tivoli, Lucerne, Switzerland i.e. Post-graduate Diploma in Hotel Management. After several years of experience in managing F&B outlets, Vik began teaching hospitality subjects and was lecturer-in-charge of industrial training in the School of Hospitality & Tourism, Stamford College Kuala Lumpur, from Sept 1996 till Dec 1998; and thereafter continued his teaching career at INTI International University (INTI IU) since Dec 1998.

He attained MSc in Human Resource Development (HRD) at UPM in 1999, by completing a thesis on “Staff Turnover in Selected Malaysian Hotels”, whilst teaching marketing and management subjects in IIU. Not long after embarking into a doctorate programme in 2000, Vik completed the Access Certificate in English Language Teaching (ACELT), Pitman London in 2002. Since 2004 Vik was Head of Programme and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2006 at INTI IU.

In 2008 Vik attained his PhD from UPM upon completing his thesis titled “Managerial Learning Behavior and Learning Opportunities within the Learning Organization”. Besides research methodology, management and HRD related subjects at post-graduate and undergraduate levels, Dr. Vik is an external examiner for PhD thesis work, reviewer for journal articles and has been supervising and examining thesis work of post-graduate students in addition to writing, presenting in conferences and publishing numerous research based papers in journals/proceedings related to learning organizations, managerial learning, ethics and career success. In addition to ongoing research in these areas, he is also pursuing his research interest in ethics, corporate social responsibility, green marketing and internet marketing within various industries.

He is a senior member of International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT) and an Ordinary member of Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Manager (MIHRM). Dr. Vik has also been a principal of an international college as well as HOD of a business school in another university.
