Asia Metropolitan College Kuching is a college under the auspices of two giant companies, SMR Group and CREDOR. Asia Metropolitan College Kuching established itself as an allied health and science college since 2010, and it is currently under the leadership of its Chief Executive, Dr. Irene Lau Meng Ing.

The official launch of Kuching campus was officiated Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (Ministry of Higher Education) on June 28th, 2011. The campus is equipped with essential state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories to keep abreast of the latest industrial trend, thereby enriching student’s learning experience. AMC is focused on producing trained, qualified and competent graduates for domestic and international markets in health sciences and various other disciplines. Moving forward, AMC Kuching aims to be the college of choice in Sarawak.

AMC is located strategically near several hypermarkets, sports complex, banking facilities, restaurants, and a bus terminal. Approximately 700 students have graduated from AMC Kuching since 2010 in various Health Sciences Diploma Programs such as Healthcare, Environmental Health, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology and Foundation in Health Sciences.

All of the programs offered at AMC are accredited by MQA and approved by KPT in collaboration with the Malaysia’s Ministry of Health. The latest development is the establishment of Employment Placement Unit as a hub to provide the out – going students and our alumni with information regarding job market trend and current job vacancies state-wide. AMC strives for continuous improvement, and has reshaped and repositioned itself to meet the ever challenging and competitive landscape of Malaysian job market, especially in Allied Health and Sciences, by providing and preparing its graduates with the right skills and knowledge.

The Foundation in Health Sciences is a comprehensive one year pre-university programme aimed at providing students with the knowledge required to further their ambition of pursuing degree courses in the field of health sciences.

Our programme is designed to offer an excellent and worthy pre-university education that will augment the relevant pathway towards achieving industry related careers specifically in the field of Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Allied Science and Health Care Management.

This programme has attained full accreditation status by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in the year 2013. It presents a smooth transition for students to pursue a degree in any health sciences industry with direct entry to chosen faculties at AMU as well as other educational private or international institutions.

  • Leading to Medicine and Pharmacy majors (after completing FHS) Minimum 5 Grade B’s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) AND another subject at SPM Level/O-Level
    Leading to other Bachelor Degrees (after completing FHS)

Minimum 5 credits in Mathematics, 2 Science subjects and 2 other subjects.
International students may pursue FHS at AMU with equivalent academic qualification

World Confederation of Physical Therapy states, “Physical therapy provides services to individuals and populations to develop maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan.” Physiotherapists play a significant part in most healthcare teams and are involved in the maintenance and restoration of movement and function in a range of client groups.

The course offers you the opportunity to acquire advanced theoretical knowledge and a deeper understanding of research and shows you how to integrate knowledge with clinical skills and experience.a smooth transition for students to pursue a degree in any business related course with direct entry to the business faculty at AMU as well as other educational private or international institutions.

It helps trainees to become members of medical laboratory technology or medical laboratory technologist who are reflective, able to adapt and respond to changes in current healthcare needs.

Environmental Health is a challenging eld of research and policy that links the natural, health and social sciences and the world of academia, business, labour, government and community groups. The relationship between human health and environment are, however, multidirectional where human health and wellbeing can have a consequence impact on the state of the environment. This Diploma Programme will provide skills and knowledge for understanding and professional practice in such an interconnected world.

Overview

This programme prepares students of safety and health with knowledge and skills that enable them to bring about change in the way  safety and health being perceived and to create better understanding on the potential safety and health hazards at work. This programme enhances the team leadership qualities that enable students to develop training programme and to communicate effectively with superiors and subordinates on matters pertaining to standards and regulatory requirements. The practical component of this programme exposes students to real working environment and the research component enhances the student’s cognitive and analytical skills to better understand safety and health issues at workplace.

AMC Kuching accommodations are located close by the campuses and clinic attachment areas while some of them are within walking distance (less than 1.5km).

Students who wish to stay in the private accommodation units may make arrangements directly with the landlords or contact the service of our logistic department.

Student Affairs and Development Units will assist the students who need special services such as medical attention, complaints and other service related matters. Besides that, in order to ease the strain of travelling, we will also provide the students with free shuttle bus services from the hostel to the campus.
