Due to financial constraints the pandemic has caused for many poverty-stricken families, the Palan Foundation has offered to provide an MBBS degree scholarship for students who qualify. The scholarship offers RM50,000 for outstanding students who have a demonstrated financial need.
This scholarship will be provided to individuals that are able to secure a seat for the MBBS programme with our partner university, Asia Metropolitan University (AMU) at Johor Bahru. AMU has a comprehensive medical school and is a preferred choice by many thanks to its accredited programme that is recognised by several professional bodies.
It is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and is recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council which allows students to secure their housemanship posting. During the final year of studies, students will undergo clinical rotations within the state of Johor.
With the accomplishment of its first three graduating cohorts, the university has maintained a 100 per cent housemanship passing rate in each of their hospital rotations which further exemplifies its world-class education.
The Palan Foundation is an educational non-profit organisation inspired by Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. R. Palan with the goal of improving the educational attainment of young disadvantaged individuals.
“Education is a human right and a basic need. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with enough resources to receive the best education. With the Palan Foundation, we hope to empower medical students with the right tools so that they too can contribute back to society upon graduating,” said Tan Sri.
