The ceremony also saw a total of 23 postgraduate students receiving their awards for Doctor of Philosophy in Management, Doctor of Business Administration, Master in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Management) and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Methodology.
During the graduation ceremony, AMU’s Chancellor, Yang Amat Berbahagia Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Perak General Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri (Dr.) Mohd Zahidi bin Haji Zainuddin acknowledged the resilience that have been demonstrated by the graduates in managing to complete their studies amid the adversities they have had to face. “I am sure that our graduates today have had their fair share of challenges to overcome as they enter into a workforce that is currently still reeling from the pandemic. However, I am confident that the values and training that you have acquired at AMU have empowered you to prevail and thrive.”
The event also saw the two individuals bring conferred honorary doctorates by the University in recognition of their contributions towards education. Tan Sri Datuk R.Nadraja, the Chairman Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Dhevasthanam, Kuala Lumpur and President of Malaysia Council of Hindu Temples and Hindu Associations was acknowledged for his philanthropy towards education as well as towards the preservation of arts and culture. He was conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Community Management.
Since 1992, when he was appointed the Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk R. Nadraja was responsible in the administration of the Sri Ganeshar Temple and the well-known Malaysian landmark, The Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple at Batu Caves. Under his leadership, the Temple has released many books related to Hinduism, Indian Art and Culture, Historical and Tourism aspects to the public. He has also championed education aid, welfare and charity for underprivileged children, B40 families and non–governmental organisations.
His Excellency Professor Thakur S Powdyel, Former Minister of Education, Royal Government of Bhutan was conferred with the Honorary Doctorate in Innovation Education. His Excellency was the country’s first democratically elected Minister of Education. His vision of holistic education expressed in My Green School has been translated to 18 languages around the world. HE continues to dedicate his career in advancing the Noble Sector and making significant contribution to the global education thought.
